Q: Why did you begin acupuncture?
A: I began acupuncture because I have always believed in treating the whole body. There is more than just a physical-mechanical approach to medicine. Our experiences, diet, nutrition, lifestyle all impact our bodies. My mom introduced me to alternative medicine when I was 8 during her fight with cancer, and I witnessed how powerful connecting, touching and listening in medicine brought her more relief than traditional treatments.
Q: How has it impacted your personal life?
A: I work a lot with pain, chronic disease, and people with cancer. I have a lot of people who have come to me as their “last” hope and I watch as strength returns to their lives. It keeps me humble and it keeps me appreciative and full of gratitude that I get to be a part of these people’s lives and transformation. I am honored that because of my personal experience as a child, I am able to develop and use my gift to help others find healing and relief.
Q: Is acupuncture successful short term or long term?
A: Every person is an individual and that is how I approach each treatment. People ask how long it takes to see results and it varies from person to person. I have a reputation of resolving issues and creating lasting change in the body. Most people need 4-6 treatments to see change, and 6-12 to reset a pattern. Acupuncture is not a quick fix Band-Aid. Acupuncture creates an evolution in the body enabling long lasting resolve. I pride my business and myself on obtaining results. I will always give everything I have to help.
Life can be pain free and transformed through Acupuncture, Cosmetic Acupuncture and Tui Na. Originally used as a preventive medicine, it has now also emerged as a treatment of disease, chronic and acute pain, and an adjunctive therapy to western medicine.
Acupuncture is based on the concept that the body is regulated by meridians or pathways that contain energy called qi (pronounced “chee”). The Qi flows throughout the body, keeping the body in a state of homeostasis. It is when this flow is disrupted, symptoms arise due to the lack of flow and eventually disease and pain become present in the body. Acupuncture uses oriental medical theory and acupuncture points to correct imbalances in the flow of qi by stimulation of anatomical locations on or under the skin by a variety of techniques. The most common technique is stimulation of acupuncture points through the use of needles. Other techniques are cupping, gua sha, moxibusion, and tui na.
