Happy New Year! As we have begun 2022 with yet another surge it is the beginning of reflecting on things differently. We are now two years into the pandemic and learning to live, breathe, and move into this world differently. 2022 is the year where we all must learn to function in our lives with a pandemic. How do we shift our behaviors? Be responsible and generous with ourselves and others while maintaining some sort of ‘normalcy’. What does living in a pandemic look like to you now that we are no longer shutting down completely and being asked to still show up in our jobs, life, and community?

Grace, my wife is required to test weekly at her job in Boston University. She works from home half the week and in an office the other half. They sit away from each other on lunch breaks, scattered hours for lunch and keep their mask on the rest of the time.

Santi, my son, goes to Waldorf where they take them outside every single day. Yes, every day and that included this week where temperatures where below zero and my son said he was warm except for his eyeballs. They made everyone test before resuming school, mandatory N95/KN95 mask and also have weekly pooled testing.

Maya, my daughter, they continue to scatter the students in groups and at lunch time. She is also enrolled in weekly testing at the school.

Myself, I continue to wipe down all surfaces in the treatment room before and after treatments. Allow time between sessions and schedule no more than 4 people a day. Less if they are 2 hour sessions. I mask up everywhere even when I exercise and have committed to testing at home. The studio has two massive IQair purifiers, cleaned between clients, as well as two air purifiers in my room. The protocols have not changed with reopening and have continued to be consistent through out the pandemic.

My cats demand to go out on the screen in porch no matter the temperature, socially distance themselves from everyone unless it suits them, and continue to jump on counters, knock things over and create chaos at any chance they get.

As always I recommend keeping Gan Mao Ling in your cabinets and to take regularly during flu and cold season. I also have a written herbal protocol that I have found works with folks with covid that I am happy to pass on if any of you ever find you need it for yourself or others.

On another note, for those of you who have known me a while know that I believe in Mercury Retrograde. The pre-shadow phase is currently happening and tomorrow, the 14th is the official start of the time until Feb 3rd.  It is a good time to complete current and past projects and get caught up on what you have been putting off. Slowing down, clearing up the past allows us to grow and learn during this time. There are challenges in starting new projects, communication, electronics, and getting things complete. It is a great time to practice patience with yourself and others.

And finally 6 signs of being ungrounded :

  1. Distracted
  2. Overthinking
  3. Taking on experiences of others
  4. Anxious and worried
  5. Can’t sleep or feel fatigue
  6. Experiencing pain or inflammation.

Let ground ourselves and remember to breathe and check in with ourselves. Allow you to take a time out and practice observing your breath, in for 7 and out for 5.  Anchor yourself by connected to the ground barefoot. You are as powerful and the tree withstanding the winter, rooted and holding firm to the changing seasons.

Lets make 2022 the year your desires come to life.

Namaste,

Jessica
