Welcome to the last couple of weeks of Spring. Have you finished your spring cleaning? Planted seeds of expansion in support of your visions and dreams? Began a self-care routine that inspires you?

Summer is approaching and as nature is preparing for these shifts, your bodies are too. Summer officially begins on the solstice, June 21st, and runs until the middle of August.

The arrival of June coincided with the babies of nature emerging from their hiding grounds to begin the process of growth outside their first homes. Spring starts the movement of growth, and then Summer takes over to allow growth to mature to its fullest potential.

Summer belongs to the fire element, which manifests in the heart, small intestines, and pericardium in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Summer is often a time of socializing and celebrating. Because of this, it’s important to support your body with balance during summer. One way you can do this is by consuming cooling foods, and with herbs that nourish your pericardium and hardworking heart.

Fire relates to life-sustaining energy and joy. When your fire is in balance, you feel a warm and joyous energy during summer. A well-tended fire allows you to radiate and expand outwards. However, when you are out of sync with the energy of summer, this fire can take a wrong turn. Too little or too much can manifest as low energy, depression, dehydration, anxiety, emotional outbursts, and insomnia.

I am starting my second summer in Massachusetts and cleaning things up to begin a new chapter. For those of you that have not seen me since I have come back but are still on my patient email list, please let me know if you would like to be removed. We all need to clean our digital lives from time to time- I am spring cleaning my online world too- unsubscribing and unfollowing, this is how we can create space to welcome new things into our lives!

As always, if you would like to make an appointment with me for help transitioning into the new season, you may book here. You can also reach out to me via email and text.
